The first bunting flag workshop took place on Saturday May 20th with the Killarney Youth. The Killarney sewing club had saved the old children's parachute and taken it apart by section to repurpose it. They donated this brightly coloured nylon fabric for the Art Carnivale to create the bunting flags. With the Youth using a template to cut out the triangles from the parachute fabric, and artist Amanda Lye assisting them to sew them on to the bias tape we created over ten meters for the first row of bunting flags. With the bright colours they look stunning! Also the fact that the community is making these bunting flags as a decoration that can be reused for other events in the future is eco-friendly and resourceful. The next Bunting Flag workshop will take place on Saturday June 3rd at Killarney Centre. Rebecca from the EartHand collective has also donated fabrics to create more bunting flags and to assist in making the KILLARNEY banner. She will be joining us in the next
